The Office of Paranormal Oversight was created in the aftermath of the Black Arion Arises attacks on September 11, 2001. The office consolidates all of the paranormal assets and studies groups of the United States Government under one centralized bureau. The office was created to ensure that the Black Arion Movement and other paranormal criminals and terrorist activities were stopped and that such organizations and individuals would no longer be able to threaten the citizens of the United States.
The OPO was originally proposed in the Aftermath Review Document presented to the President on November 10, 2001. Legislation to establish the office and move the component organizations under its control was rushed through Congress and the office was declared operational on March 10, 2002 with the Director of the OPO as a junior cabinet level position.
The OPO originally consisted of the Paranormal Studies Program, moved from under the auspices of the Department of Health; the Federal Security Service, formerly of the Department of Justice and Team: Yankee, a paranormal anti-terrorist unit that had been part of the Department of Defense.
Paranormal Community:
After some reorganization of assets, the OPO assumed its current organizational structure.
Frederica Olivet, a career civil service employee with previous assignments at the State Department, the National Security Administration and the Justice Department was appointed as the first director. Her Deputy Director is Donovan Tate, a retired Air Force Captain with ten years of service with the Justice Department.
