History:
New York Central was formed as a stop gap measure to provide a Radley-Gold Act group in New York City to replace the Crusaders in the aftermath of the Professor von Kaylon Island Incident. The group was setup with a rotational membership. The first rotation was Viking, Celt, Norman and Saxon. The second rotation was Amethyst, Amber, Garnet and Ruby. The third rotation was Knight, Squire, Samurai and Ronin. To avoid jurisdictional issues between the FSS and local authorities, the members were removed from FSS active duty status and thus as civilians they were able to operate under the provisions of the Radley-Gold Act during their assignment with New York Central. A variety of federal, state, local and private funding sources provided the financial backing for the New York Central Foundation. The group disbanded in December 1981 when Team: Goldstar were granted full active status under the Radley-Gold Act.
