History:
The Sentinels quickly became the "heroes" of the West Coast. Although based in Los Angeles, they fought paranormal criminals and terrorists throughout the Western region of the United States.
They became a target in 1969 when their headquarters was attacked by Black Sheba. Misty and Thunder I were severely injured during the attack which ended when Guardsman and Blackstar forced Black Sheba to flee the scene. A couple of months later, Guardsman and Blackstar helped Team: Able captured Black Sheba.
Misty and Thunder I recovered from their injuries and where active members of the Sentinels until they retired in 1975. They were replaced on the roster by Angelita and Silverstar.
Jewel, Laserfire, Malibu and Star were added to the Sentinels roster in 1980, shortly before the retirement of Blackstar and Silverstar.
Angelita retired from crime fighting in 1985.
As incidences of paranormal crimes in the area increased, the Sentinels spent more and more time patrolling the Greater Los Angeles area.
The Sentinels suffered a great loss in 1994 when Jewel and Star were killed and Laserfire and Malibu critically injured in an encounter with the Harbingers.
This encounter along with legal action by Oberonto Faust to give him control of the Sentinel Foundation led to Putnam disbanding the Sentinels and the Sentinel Foundation.
